The Smart Grid, Smart City Centre was an interactive education space for the community. The Smart Grid, Smart City Centre opened in September 2011 and closed in September 2013. During this time more than 7,000 visitors were welcomed to the Centre. Visitors received updates on the program, learnt about new technologies and picked up helpful energy efficiency tips.
Activities and technologies included:

  • calculating what drives power usein the home 
  • monitoring appliance energy use online
  • seeing different energy efficient lighting
  • remotely controlling of various appliances

The centre's auditorium and lab space were available to be used free of charge for events with content of a sustainable nature.

Smart Grid, Smart City Centre Lab

The Smart Grid, Smart City Lab space was ideal for workshops and school groups, with capacity for up to 20 people boardroom style. The Lab also closed in September 2013.
